ExpressCFO is a management accounting & advisory firm built at the intersection of financial discipline, operational intelligence, and executive decision support. We work with founders preparing for their first capital event, business owners who know something is broken in their financial function but cannot yet name it precisely, and mid-market operators navigating growth, transition, and the capital conversations that come with both.
Every engagement, regardless of scope, serves one purpose: to close the gap between where your business is and where it needs to be.
Senior Partner
Clayton Ivey brings more than 31 years of expertise in management accounting, GAAP compliance, debt and equity financing, and financial restructuring to every client relationship. Over the course of his career, he has served more than 600 clients and secured more than $785 million in debt and equity capital through investor-grade financial analysis, pro forma modeling, and disciplined capital strategy.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Florida A&M University's School of Business and Industry, where he served as Student CEO and member of the SBI Leaders Council, earning two competitive corporate internships at 3M Headquarters in St. Paul, Minnesota and Monsanto Agricultural Company in St. Louis, Missouri before he ever entered the professional workforce. Those early immersion experiences — inside the operational finance and corporate strategy functions of two global enterprises — built the financial instincts and executive fluency that now define his approach to advisory work. He also holds the Financial Modeling and Valuation Analyst (FMVA) certification from the Corporate Finance Institute.
As a Fractional CFO and External Investor Relations executive, Clayton serves mid-market clients who need institutional-quality financial leadership without the cost and permanence of a full-time hire. He is a practitioner of AI-integrated workflow design, with direct, hands-on experience across multiple large language model environments, MCP server architecture, and LLM development — giving him a forward-looking perspective on how technology reshapes financial operations and decision systems for growth-stage organizations.
"His advisory work is not transactional. It is diagnostic, structural, and strategic. He does not record what has already happened. He builds frameworks, evaluates capital structure, identifies process failures, and partners with owners on the decisions that determine whether a business grows, stalls, or becomes fundable."
Marneda Kelley Ivey holds a Master of Library and Information Science from Florida State University, the same institution where her graduate mentor completed her doctoral degree. She began her academic journey at Florida A&M University, where her natural gift for teaching and connecting people to knowledge became evident during a two-year internship at the College of Nursing Library — recognized by the library director, Dr. Julitta Awkard, as someone with a rare ability to inspire and organize.
With 25 years of professional experience as a Media Specialist and institutional knowledge architect, Kelley brings a precision to research and information management that most business advisory firms simply do not possess. Her expertise spans knowledge organization, information architecture, content classification, collection development, and the systematic preservation and distribution of intellectual capital at institutional scale.
As Managing Partner at XBS, Kelley oversees operations, client services, and program delivery. She is also Chief Knowledge Officer of Authority Publishing, the XBS intellectual capital development platform that helps entrepreneurs and executives organize and protect their specialized expertise as long-term enterprise assets.
"Those are not abstract competencies. They are the disciplines that determine whether a business's most valuable knowledge assets are accessible, teachable, transferable, and durable — or locked inside the memory of the people who built them."
Managing Partner
The professionals who engage XBS are not looking for someone to explain accounting to them. They are looking for a partner who can see the full picture of their financial position, ask the questions their current advisors are not asking, and deliver a clear, honest assessment of what needs to change and why. That is the standard we hold ourselves to.
Every business owner who steps into a capital conversation deserves to walk in prepared.
Fractional advisory, done correctly, is not a budget compromise — it is a strategic advantage.
The combination of financial rigor and credentialed knowledge architecture that Clayton and Kelley bring to every client relationship is genuinely uncommon.
You will not find it packaged this way anywhere else.
They profit by serving. Helping their clients is of higher importance than making money, and this speaks to the high character of the Iveys.
